The second round of the Betfred Wheelchair Super League got underway this weekend with teams fighting to keep their winning streak alive whilst others looked for their first Super League win.
On Saturday, Edinburgh Giants hosted Hull FC in a battle stretching all the way to the final whistle.
The pair fought hard as FC built up an 18-0 lead before the Giants pulled it back to a narrow finish.
But they couldn’t make it back far enough, as the black and whites collected their first win of the season at 30-32.
Saturday’s second game saw holders Halifax Panthers host Wigan Warriors in a match that would prove the Warrior’s biggest test of the season so far.
Four tries within 20 minutes gave the Panthers a sizable buffer at 22-0.
Despite the Warriors’ impressive defence, preventing the Panthers from racking up an even greater lead, the Warriors only broke through once, heading into the break at 34-6.
The second half proved much of the same as Halifax’s Rob Hawkins completed a hat-trick in four minutes and brothers Jack Brown and Joe Calcott continued their scoring.
Calcott finished the game having racked up four tries with Brown wrapping up the match at the 75th minute at 76-12.
Sunday’s games started with a battle between Sheffield Eagles and Bradford Bulls as each team attempted to get their first win in the Super League.
Leading up to the second half it was a back-and-forth game as each side took it in turns to build their score.
The Eagles headed into the second half with a lead at 40-26 after Joe Wink-Simmonds and Luis Domingos went over in the last five minutes of the first, both converted by Wink-Simmonds.
But it was the second 40 where Sheffield really began to run away with it.
Despite efforts from the Bulls, including two tries from Keiron Johnson who successfully converted six of Bradford’s eight tries, continued pressure from the Eagles saw them walk away with a strong win at 74-46.
The final game of the weekend saw London Roosters take on Leeds Rhinos as both teams battled to keep their clean streak intact for 2026.
The first half proved an end-to-end battle as both teams faced spells of momentum with the opposition forced to soak up the pressure.
The Rhinos looked confident in the first half, heading into the break behind just 10 points at 34-24.
But in spite of Leeds’ strong first half, the Roosters came back stronger for the second 40, finishing the game at 80-40 with five tries from captain Lewis King and 4 tries and 6 conversions from reigning Wheels of Steel winner, Joe Coyd.
